Stephanie Meyer

I have been reading.... No, It is much more than that! I have become obsessed with the Twilight series of books written by Stephanie Meyer. I have to admit that I was reluctant at first because it is not my typical genre of written works. I usually go for the action adventure / suspense of John Grisham, or the dramatic tragedy of V.C. Andrews however, my daughter Amanda read the books and suggested that I not miss out on them! A vampire love story of all things! I do indeed love a good intrigue and I witnessed her delight in reading the books so I thought what the heck. I am so very tired of TV and have been wanting to get back into reading for pleasure anyway.

Twilight... The first in her series and all that is necessary to drag you in to the fascinating world of Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and their world of excitement. I could not put the book down! I had to see what was next. It ends in the middle of the first chapter of New Moon.

New Moon... The second book started out great however, it almost torn my heart out! I had to stop reading it. I had become so very in tune with the characters that their plight truly troubled me and I felt that I could not read any further. I cried starting with chapter two and did not stop until several chapters later. I have never in my life had a book affect me the way this had. My daughter came to my room and said, "I understand mom I cried to" but she encouraged me to read on. (I was glad I did)

Eclipse... Book three and off to a perfect start once again! I am half way through and will finish it this evening for sure. Unfortunately I have to wait until next year for the following book because it is in the works. YIKES! That is torturous just to consider the wait!!!!

SO... I had to go to parent teacher conferences for my daughter Allura last night. I spoke to her English teacher who said Allura has read more books then most of the other children up to this point. I told her that we are making a point to read instead of hovering around the television. I explained to her that I was currently involved in a series that I could not put down. Of course she inquired about the books and when I told her what they are she light up with excitement. She had read the books as well. Then as I was in Allura's keyboarding class (7th grade) talking to her teacher, I looked down at her desk and there was a copy of eclipse laying opened half way, face down. I told her that I had just started into the third chapter and just like the English teacher, we chatted about the characters in the book as though they were real.

Maybe it is not so crazy... This strange connection I feel with these books. I have laughed, cried, felt fear, felt resentment, felt compassion, concern and love! A passionate love that I have never seen matched in print and surely not in real life! The kind of love that makes you hold your breath in restless anticipation and hope that it is so very real and not just a book!

Needless to say... I suggest these books! Stephanie Meyer has a great website http://www.stephaniemeyer.com/ She is a very interesting person and by far my new favorite author.

WOW!!!!!!!
